Newborn infant of Rev. and Mrs. Robert and Mary Singleton Barnwell. All died within barely a day of each other, and were all buried in the same grave. Rev. Barnwell died in a hospital in Staunton, Virginia of Typhoid fever. He insisted on being sent to the hospital so as not to expose his wife to the fever, as she was expecting. His wife died after giving birth, although it is unknown if she had childbirth complications, or Typhoid fever. Husband, wife, and child were buried at the same time in the same grave, according to the account given by Mary Boykin Chesnut in her book, A Diary of Dixie.
