Jane arrived at Springfield College in Springfield, MA in the fall of 1967. She was a smart, friendly, athletic and funny person. She was majoring in Physical Education and was a good sport in so many ways, her sense of humor always shining through.

After Martin Luther King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, her sister and brother-in-law returned home to Framingham because Georgetown University had closed down. Jane was riding in their car in Framingham, when they were hit by another vehicle early in the morning on April 13, 1968. Initially she was taken to the Framingham Hospital, and then was moved to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she died.

Miss Jane Duane, 18, of 29 State Street, Framingham, critically injured in an automobile accident in Framingham last Friday, died today at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Mishap Victim's Rites Set

FRAMINGHAM -- A solemn requiem Mass will be offered Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Bridget's Church for Jane Duane, 18, of 29 State Street.
Miss Duane, a freshman honor student at Springfield College, died Wednesday of head injuries received in an auto accident Saturday morning on Route 135, Framingham.
She was a graduate of Framingham South High School and a life guard at Monument Beach, Bourne, during the summer.
She leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Duane; two sisters, Mrs. William A. McLaughlin of Buzzards Bay and Mary of Framingham; three brothers, William G., Curt and Francis; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. William E. Curtin of Plymouth.
