JoAnn worked at Richland Bank until the birth of her only child, Bob, in September 1966. She was a room mother, scout leader, PTA member, avid Little League attendee, and Tyger football booster mom.
JoAnn was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan and spoke often about a trip to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in 1955 with her sisters to cheer them on! She was an avid golfer for three decades and loved her bowling leagues. She and Henry and Bob spent many summers at their place on Lake Erie, and had many beloved friends and family there who loved to play pranks on each other. They enjoyed travel, and had many great adventures on trips to the east coast, out west, New Orleans, and Hawaii. She was a dedicated grandma to Jameson and Alec, and never missed a chance to take them putt-putting or come to grandparent's day at their schools. She loved a good joke, never met a stranger, and preferred a good laugh over anything serious. She always made sure to have chocolate chip cookies in the cookie canister and Jones' potato chips in the snack drawer for when her family came to visit. She was a grade-A mother-in-law.
Survivors include her son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Chris, and grandsons, Jameson and Alec, Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Nancy (Harold) Tier and family, Mount Vernon; brother, Gary (Ellen) Barncord and family, Mansfield; step-daughter, Jo Ellen Wagner and family, Mansfield; and step-daughter, Susie Patrick and family, Kingwood, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and beloved sister, Sue Barncord.
A memorial gathering is set for October 15, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, where we will share memories of JoAnn. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association , P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
