Well Known Former Resident Dies Saturday
Word reached Elwood Monday of the death of D. B. Gano, at his home in Raymondville, Texas, Saturday evening. Death came after an illness over a two year period and for the past six months Mr. Gano had been confined to his bed. Mr. and Mrs. Gano moved to Raymondville two years ago following the death of his brother, Will, to look after the business interests left by the latter.
D. B., as he was known by his large circle of friends in this territory, was an early resident of Gosper county. During his life he had business interests in several sections of the country, and real estate in Canada. In the early days Mr. Gano was in the well and implement business in Elwood and later was in Texas for a number of years drilling oil wells.
He has had considerable business and real estate interests in and around Elwood and for a few years previous to his removal to Texas was in the employ of the department of public works in state road building here.
While the news of his death was not unexpected yet his friends mourn his passing. He leaves his wife, two daughters and three sons to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held in Raymondville Tuesday and burial was also made there. (The Elwood Bulletin, Elwood, Neb, Mar 14, 1929
