Gerald D. Benson, 84, of Grants Lick, passed away surrounded by his family on August 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center - Ft. Thomas Fort Thomas, KY. He was a Kentucky State Trooper for 25 years, served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, Campbell County Clerk for 4 years and Campbell County school bus driver for 20 years. He also coached Knothole Baseball for 10 years. Gerald was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Melbourne, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gunnar and Elaine Benson, sisters in law, Lynn Reed and Linda Benson. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda Benson, sons, Mark Benson, Eric (Cathy) Benson and Kirk (Theresa) Benson, brothers, Dennis (and the late Lynn Reed) and Stuart (Chris and the late Linda) Benson, sisters, Diane Buchheit, and Eileen Deren, 5 grandchildren, Claire, Gunnar, Sophia, Aleah and Kilee. Brother in law to Vivian Snodgrass, Faye (the late Charles) Ammerman and C.W. (Brenda) Snodgrass. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, 4410 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Cemetery Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
