"Charles Gadsby - Funeral services were held at 3:30 pm today for Charles L Gadsby, 80, of Pittsfield, RD 1, Warren County, formerly of Sandy Lake. He died at 10 am Sunday at his home following a heart attack. The funeral was held at the Edward P McMullen Funeral Home, Sandy Lake. He was born in Raymilton, Feb 11, 1892, to Isaac and Melissa Baker Gadsby. He married the former Laura Pond in 1917 and she died in 1970. He later married the former Mildred Danuski, who survives. He was a farmer most of his life and retired in 1971 from Chapman State Park. He was a member of Corry Loyal Order of Moose and Warren Senior Citizens Club. He attended the Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, C Ronald Gadsby, of Clarendon; four daughters, Mrs William (Geraldine) Shorts and Mrs Richard (Lois) Johnson, both of Warren; Mrs Clarence (Lucille) Jenkins, Jackson Center, RD 1; Mrs Mary Silvis, of Binghampton, NY; eight step-children; three brothers, Howard, Grove City RD 4; Carl, Stoneboro RD 2, and Merrill, of Polk; one sister, Mrs H W (Verna) Vogan, Sandy Lake; 17 grandchildren, 25 step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Daugherty, and a son, Donald Gadsby. The Rev Harry W Beveridge, pastor of the Sandy Lake United Methodist Church, officiated at services and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery."
