ASSAULTED WITH A BOTTLE.

Henry Benson, an Auctioneer, Mattes an Attack on C. A. Bellue.

C. A. Bellue, the proprietor of a French liquor store on Valencia street, between Sixteenth and Seventeenth, was hit over the head with a bottle last night, about 8:30 o'clock, by Henry Benson', an auctioneer. The latter escaped, and up to a late hour last night had not been captured. From what can be learned in regard to the affair, it appears that Benson went into Bellue's place of business, and, after partaking of a few drinks, got into a heated argument with the saloonman over some trivial matter. The latter attempted to eject him, when Benson picked up a bottle and dealt Bellue a severe blow over the head, inflicting some very severe injuries to the saloonman's scalp. ' Benson bears a good reputation in the Mission, but is said to be very dangerous when under the influence of liquor. Benson was arrested later in the evening by Detective Price and booked for assault to murder at the Seventeenth-street station. He procured bonds to the amount of $2000 and was released.
