Violet Cecilia Halladay, age 87, died on July 20, 1995 at 7:45 p.m. in the Holladay Health Care Center, after a serious operation due to a bad fall she had experienced a few days before.
Cecilia was born on September 20, 1907 at Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada to Smith Graham and Janet Keddie Douglas Graham. She came to Salt Lake City with her parents when she was 2 1/2 months old, and she has lived here ever since. Cecilia married Arthur Cyril Halladay on December 30, 1927. This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Arthur died May 2, 1973.
Although Cecilia had many sorrows and disappointments in her life, she never allowed any of them to conquer her indomitable will to do good, nor to weaken her faith in her Father in Heaven and in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Cecilia was a most faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she willingly served in many callings: Sunday School, Primary, Relief Society, both as a teacher, secretary and counselor. She was zealous in compiling the genealogy records for both her and her husband's families.
Cecilia is survived by a sister, Jeanette Trottier, of Lebanon, Oregon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David J. Halladay, A. Nathan Boss, Ethel Matson, Pearl Halladay, Betsy Halladay, Lillian Morrison, and Thelma Jessop. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Cecilia Jerrome, Calif.; Marjorie Higginson, Orem; Lillian Place, Sharon Klavano, and Velma Konold, all of Oregon; LaVonne Julian, Utah; Mervin Peterson and Glade Peterson, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 1995 in the Eldredge Ward, 3219 So. 300 East at 11 a.m. Viewing for friends and relatives will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South and also on Tuesday morning from 10-10:45 a.m. at the chapel.
