Charlie was born Oct. 26, 1928, in rural Monticello, the son of Charles Otis and Clara Bell (Anders) Adkins. He married Deloris “Snooky” Dean on Dec. 25, 1948, in Monticello.
C h a r lie is survived by his wife, Deloris “Snooky” Adkins of Monticello; son, Terry Adkins (Pam) of Monticello; daughter, Trixy Corley (John) of Monticello; grandchildren, Erin Diehm (Tony), Kristin Blacker (Tony) and stepgrandson Adam Corley; and great-grandchildren, Addison Blacker, Ian and Isaac Diehm and stepgreat- granddaughter Alexandra Corley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Adkins Potter and Dora Adkins Schneider; and stepgrandson, Eric Corley.
Charlie was a retired farmer and a Pioneer Seed Corn salesman. He graduated from Monticello High School and received a football scholarship to Colorado State University. He was also a member of the Monticello Rattlesnakes baseball team. Charlie served as a director for the Piatt County Service Company and was a Will-O-Bees 4-H Leader.
