Gene Tunney Murphy, 89, passed away September 1, 2018, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. He was born November 21, 1928, to Arthur and Martha Jane Cox Murphy. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening.
A celebration of life service will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Murphy and Mr. Mark Wootton officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Danny (Barbara) Murphy; two daughters, Connie (Terrell) Boren and Sandra (Rickey) Neaves; one sister, Elsie Wootton; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Rusty) Slack, April (Doug) Burgess, Tammy (Michael) Metz, Carey (RaShonda) Riddle, Bethany (Thomas) Cummings, Jesslyn (Brandon) Bailey, Trevor Boren, Chi (Laura) Wesson and Alex (Kristin) Wesson; two step-grandchildren, Leslie (Reggie) Bridges and Josh (Britanie) Neaves; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Avry Bowdry, and his other caregivers at Landmark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Gann Murphy; one daughter, Barbara K Riddle; his parents; and two grandchildren, Deric Eugene Murphy and Jamie Neal Murphy.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
