Ford Elworth Carr, age 76, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 31, 2018. He was born March 30, 1942 in Berryville, AR to Cyril Larkin and Bethel Gaylor Carr. He attended Harrison High School, where he graduated in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1960, where he was an active member for four years. When he was stationed in Charleston, S.C., he met the love of his life, Alberta Lucille Edgemon Carr at church, and they married on November 29,1961.

Ford served a total of 34 years in the U.S. Navy. Upon entering U.S. Navy reserves, he moved to Springfield, MO, to work as an electrician at Litton Advanced Circuitry for several years and later, Frisco Railroad, which became Burlington Northern Railroad, where he retired from. He was a successful businessman and always helped others every chance he could. Ford enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and restoring cars. He was a man of great knowledge and talent, and a perfectionist at everything he felt the need to accomplish.

Ford is survived by his wife, Alberta; their son Ford L. Carr and wife Kenita and three children Denise and fiancé Phil, Dalton Ford Carr and significant other Emily, and BreeAnna and husband Matt; their daughter Cheryl L. Carr Bruette and three children Jamie and husband Mark, Robert and wife Naomi, and Elijah and wife Megan; their daughter Belenda S. Carr Eddy and fiancé Stan and Belenda’s three children Colton, Cameron, and Carson; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Jean Eddings, Brenda Kay Lawson and husband Bobby, C.L. Carr and wife Gloria, and Michael Carr. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold “Mack” Carr, sister Mozella Pounds, grandson Brandon Carr, and great-grandson Patrick Thorsen.

Services for Ford will be at 3:00 pm Friday September 7, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday September 9, 2018 in the funeral home. Graveside services with full military honors will be at 10:00 am Saturday September 8, 2018 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
