LAYDEN, Elmer F. Jr. 85, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Elmer was born in Pitts burgh, PA to Edythe and Elmer Layden of 'Notre Dame Four Horsemen Fame.' Elmer was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Elmer enjoyed boating, fishing, aviation, and sharing his love of life with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Layden; mother, Edythe D. Layden; brothers, Michael and Patrick; sister, Joan Jones; and son, Elmer F. Layden III. He is survived by his wife, DeLores Layden; children, Karen Westrich, Kimberly Layden, Thomas Layden; grandchildren, Kendall Davis, Hunter Layden, and Michael Anson; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Elmer will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, and a wonderful sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
