Reverend Doyle D. Young, 79, of Dunbar, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, after a long illness.

Doyle was a Christian. He loved the Lord with all his heart and lived every day for the Lord.

He retired from FMC, Nitro and was also a retired pastor. He pastored many churches in Kanawha and Putnam counties for over 50 years. He most recently attended West Dunbar Community Church, where he was the pastor for 26 years. Doyle was Vice President of the WV Gospel Tabernacle Association and served over 10 years on the Dunbar Police Department as a Reserve Officer. This was Doyle’s third battle with cancer. He fought bravely and courageously to the very end.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Daphne Dean; parents, Matt and Lilly Hively Young; twin sister, Doris Strickland; brothers, Reverend Delmar Young and Darrell Young.

Doyle leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Crank Young; daughters, Vicky Young Foster and her husband Paul of Beckley and Jessica Young Chandler and her husband David of Winfield; son in law, David Dean of Charleston; grandchildren, Matthew Dean and his wife Megan of Cincinnati, Ohio and Noah Chandler; great grandson Hudson Dean; sisters, Geraldine Nida of Home in the Hills, Fla and Lorene Harmon of Arden, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the following people:

The nurses at the infusion center at CAMC Cancer Center. Thank you for loving dad and mom and going above and beyond in your care of him. You brightened his darkest days and your love and compassion will never be forgotten.

Patrick and Nicole Guthrie- your calls, visits, support and meals you provided were such a blessing to us. Patrick, you were like a son to dad and he loved you very much. Thank you for taking such good care of him.

Larry and Brenda Young- your love, support, phone calls, visits and guidance during this most difficult time meant the world to us. We love you both.

2 Timothy 4:7 – I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

We love you dad! You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. We will see you again.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 10 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Reverend Frank Chapman and Reverend Larry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 9 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
