NORWAY - Elsie H. Whittemore, 77, died Wednesday at a Lewiston hospital after a short illness. She was born at AuGres, Mich., Oct. 26, 1905, the daughter of Charles and Catherine Umphrey Hodsdon. She was educated in Penobscot and Castine schools and graduated from Castine Normal School in 1925. She married Wendall P. Whittemore on June 30, 1928 at Castine. She is survived by her husband or Norway; one daughters, A. Elaine Gilman of Danvers, Mass.; one son, Phillip C. Whittemore of Norway; one sister, Mrs. Alice Hinkley; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
