John William Workman 1856 - 1936

John Wm. Workman, son of John Sr. and Caroline Campbell Workman, was born on January 6, 1856 in Sangamon County, Illinois and died there in Loami Township, on June 6, 1936. He married Elizabeth Harbour, daughter of Levi J. and Cynthia Samantha Bilyeu Harbour, on February 22, 1877, she was born on February 1, 1858 in Sangamon County, Illinois and died there in Loami Township on February 28, 1898. John and his wife Elizabeth are buried near the large Workman family Monument of a maiden facing east and holding a garland of flowers in her left hand, this is by far the most prominent marker in the Campbell Cemetery and can be seen quite clearly from the roadway in front of the cemetery. There is room for more names and dates to the front and on both sides of this monument, John Wm. and Elizabeth Workman's names and dates are inscribed on the back of the monument. Just to the right of this marker, is the John Workman Sr. stone Mausoleum, it is sealed with a large marble slab and has the Name John Workman and the date 1900 inscribed over the doorway.

Note: After his 1st wife Elizabeth died in 1898, John W. Workman 2nd married Hannah Sullivan, they had at least 5 children, including, John, Anne Kathleen, nee Tinsley, Hugh, Mary and John James Workman...
