Marilyn Mae Mathis

Marilyn Mathis was born in Jamestown, N.D., to Frank and Dorothy Mathis. The family moved to the Portland-Vancouver area in 1940. Marilyn graduated from Vancouver high school in 1954, and married Tony Meade that same year. They had a daughter, Linda in 1957 and a son, Philip in 1959. She and her second husband, Roger Wallingford were married in 1962. They had sons, Christopher in 1966 and Jeremy in 1971. Marilyn worked at Portland Community College's Sylvania campus as a switchboard operator from 1974 to her retirement in 1995. She loved the Oregon coast, gardening, visiting with friends, Barbershop Quartets and her cat Thunder. Marilyn passed in Portland, while in hospice care. She was preceded in death by her youngest child, Jeremy Wallingford (2008). Marilyn is survived by daughter, Linda (Oscar) Wickander of Gladstone; son, Philip (Crista) Meade of Medford; son, Christopher (Jenny) Wallingford of Portland; and seven grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
