Franklin "Nick" Forbes Casey was the son of Wilbur B. and Ella (Kanive) Casey. Franklin was one of 6 children, 5 that lived to be adults.

His middle name, Forbes, was his grandmother Ellen's maiden name. The Forbes family headed, by Caleb & Mary, came to Marshall county from Currituck county, NC in 1831.

Just before his 26th birthday Franklin married Marion R. Calhoun on Nov. 12, 1940, in Lacon. The couple had 4 children.

For 35 years Franklin worked for Continental Grain. He retired in 1983. He was a former member and chief of the Lacon-Sparland Volunteer Fire Department. He served as an alderman for the city of Lacon. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 61 AF and AM, Lacon for 53 years; and was a former member of the Lacon Township trustee board.
