Associate Professor of Dentistry Is Dead
DR CROSBY, CITY NATIVE DIES AT 67
Outstanding Connecticut Orthodontist Victim of Heart Illness Friday at His New Haven Home.
New Haven, Nov 11- Dr Albert William Crosby, 67, outstanding Connecticut orthodontist and internationally known writer and officer of dental organizations, died Friday afternoon at his residence, 461 Humphrey Street, after an illness of eight weeks. Following a summer vacation period spent in England, Dr Crosby became ill of a heart ailment which has been serious for the past few days. He was a native of Hartford.

Active in civic, fraternal, professional and literary activities, Dr Crosby achieved eminence both in his profession and in widely varied state and national organizations. His professional career included 18 years of general practice of dentistry in New London and 27 years of orthodontics in this city. He was at times chairman of the Preparedness League of the Connecticut Unit of American Dentists, first grand master of the Connecticut auxiliary of Delta Sigma Delta, a national dental fraternity; president of the Connecticut State Dental Association, president of the New Haven Dental Association, president of the New London County Dental Association, president of the Eastern Association of Graduates of the Angle School of Orthodontia, president of the Horace Wells Club, president of the New York Orthodontia Society, and president of the American Board of Orthodontists.

He was a dental commissioner of Connecticut for nine years, a trustee of the American Dental Association and counsellor of the Yale Unit of the International Society of Dental Research. He was a fellow of the International College of Dentistry and the American College of Dentists. He was a member of the American Dental Association, New England Dental Society, First District Dental Society of New York, the American Association of Orthodontia, the New York Academy of Dentists, the European Orthodontological Society and the American Association for Advancement of Science.

Taught At Yale

His hospital, clinic and teaching affiliations included eight years as clinical instructor of dental surgery at Yale School of Medicine, eight years as attending orthodontist at New York University and four years as associate clinical professor of dental surgery at Yale School of Medicine, a position which he held at the time of his death.

Dr Crosby was a founder and has been president of the New Haven Collectors Club. His collection of martingale brasses were derived from international sources and cover several centuries. He was a Thirty-second Degree Mason, a member of the Thames Club of London, the Quinnipiack Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Yale Alumni Association and of the Rotary Club of this city.

Dr Crosby was born in Hartford on November 13, 1870, the son of William Andrews and Alice Isola (Rodda) Crosby. He was a descendant of Simon Crosby who came to Cambridge, Mass in 1636 and became a selectman of that town, and of John Andrews, one of the founders of Farmington. He received a degree of DDS from the New York College of Dentistry in the class of 1892. He attended the Angle School of Orthodontia and took special courses in the Yale Medical School, the New York Post Graduate Medical School and Hospital, and in the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He married Isabel Selden Darrow of New London April 25, 1900, whom he leaves. There are no children.

The funeral services will be held at the parlors of Beecher and Bennett on Broadway at 1:30 pm Monday. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London at 3:30 o'clock.
