HELEN R. PRAVECHEK

(1912 - 2003)


Helen R. Pravechek, age 91, formerly of Mishicot, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at the Hamilton Memorial Home in Two Rivers.


Helen was born Feb. 26, 1912, in the town of Eaton to the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Krupa) Nowicki and has been a lifelong area resident. She married Jerry Pravechek Sr. on June 1, 1938, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in the town of Eaton. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1999. She and her husband owned and operated dairy farms, first in Kewaunee, and later in Mishicot, and retired from farming in 1976. The couple also owned and operated, along with their son, Jerry, Pravechek Sales and Service, a farm equipment business, where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society of the church. She was also a member of the After the Sunset Homemakers Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning and spending time with her family.


Survivors include one daughter, Connie Pravechek, of Oak Creek; two sons, Fred Pravechek, of Two Rivers; and Jerry Pravechek, of Mishicot; three grandchildren, Courtney VandenRidge, of Two Rivers; Aaron Pravechek, of Two Rivers; and Victoria Pravechek, of Arizona; one great-granddaughter, Keyelea. She is further survived by one brother, Ben Nowicki, of Green Bay; and by one sister, Lorraine Sevcik, Kewaunee; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.


Relatives and friends called after 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, until the time of service. There was no Sunday evening visitation. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, at the church, with Msgr. James Feely officiating, with entombment in the Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc.


A memorial fund has been established in her name.


The Lambert Funeral Home of Mishicot assisted the Pravechek family with funeral arrangements.
