Dave was born in Wilton to the late Joseph and Jenny Blodgett on March 23, 1939, the youngest of five children.
He served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1962 to 1968.
Dave worked his whole life, tools in hand, as a pipefitter, welder, fabricator, contractor, carpenter, logger, mechanic and drove for his car carrier business, Dave’s Transport Service.
There was no machine, large or small that he could not operate or repair. Dave had a natural understanding of how things worked and shared his knowledge with anyone who wished to learn, putting those in need before himself. Dave loved to travel and go camping with his close friends, Cliff and Bob. With him passed a lifetime of experiences and know-how that few now possess. He will be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife, Dolores, brother, Charles Blodgett, sister, Marge Burbine, children, Timothy (Rosemary) Blodgett, Randy Blodgett, Susan Vandermark. Step-children, William (Angie) Wadsworth Jr., Dennis Wadsworth, Tina Foglietta, Brenda Dickinson, Wendy (Art) Wells, Marlo (Ron) Merrithew and Matthew (Tricia) Wadsworth, sisters-in-law, Joan and Dorothy Blodgett. He also had 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Donald Blodgett, sister-in-law Beverly Blodgett, brother-in-law Bud Burbine, and his grandson, Jerome Foglietta Jr.
The interment service will be held at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
