Robbie Dean Abel, 23, of 32223 130th Ave., died December 12, 2012 as the result of an auto accident. He was born December 27, 1988 in Ottumwa to Rick and Linda Brain Abel. A graduate of Pekin High School in 2007 and of Indian Hills Community College in 2010, he was a certified welder. Robbie farmed, helping his dad and Uncle Randy and helping mow Brooks Cemetery. He was a member of the Keokuk County 4-H. He enjoyed hunting, the fall harvest, watching deer, riding 4-wheelers and tinkering with his pickup. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, He was especially proud of his rebuilt 4320 John Deere with which he participated in local tractor pulls. Surviving are his parents, Rick and Linda Abel of Hedrick; a sister, Cherie (Scott) Westendorf of Keota; a nephew, Anthony Westendorf of Keota; grandparents, Dean and JoAnne Brain of Hedrick; aunts and uncles, Randy (Trish) Abel of Hedrick, Russ (Kristi) Abel of Indianola, Mike (Anne) Brain of Cedar Rapids, Clark (Teresa) Brain of Hedrick, Teri (Greg) Summers of Buford, GA; numerous cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ryan Abel and grandparents, Ron and Betty Abel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in the Abel Cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Indian Hills Community College Foundation or Carl Craft Civic Center in Hedrick.
