What happened to this marriage is unknown. I have been unable to identify the possible husband from the many John Carpenters on the 1850 census. In 1850, Louisa is age 14, living with (probably) an uncle & his family. Her father had died in 1840, and her mother was living nearby in Logan Twp., with only one of her children with her. Maybe the family ran Mr. Carpenter out of town, and the marriage was annulled.
