Obituary
The Monitor in McAllen, Texas
October 23, 2017

Angelina Elena "Wela" Berber, 89, went home to be with our Lord Saturday ,October 21, 2017, at her residence in Edinburg.

Ms. Berber was born in Long Mont, CO and lived in Edinburg most of her life.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, loved life and lived it to the fullest with her large treasured family. She was quick to remember her great-grandchildren's birthdates and knew all of her family's anniversary dates. Angelina was a very hard-working woman and must have been born in the pioneer days with a shovel and "talache" in each hand. She was very beautiful, smart, loving and had good sense of humor. She had a quick calculating brain for math. Her interests ranged from slot machines in Vegas, watching her Dallas Cowboys, to sitting on her porch and playing with her grandchildren.

Ms. Berber, is preceded in death by her beloved Gregorio Valdez Sr.; her parents Apolonio and Sara Berber; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by six children, Amador (Petra) Salazar of Austin, Esther V. (Hector) Lopez, Elizandro (Lupita) Valdez, all of Edinburg, Angelina V. (Joe) Marin of San Antonio, Rosa Valdez and Maria Elena (Martin) Segovia, all of Edinburg; 23 grandchildren, Maribel ( Edward) Hambric, Amador (Michelle) Salazar Jr., Jennifer Salazar, Jeannette (Adam) Ross, Veronica (Bernardo Elizondo) "Lozano", Lorena Lopez, Hector Aldo (Marissa) Lopez, Karina Lopez, Cynthia Lee (Anthony) Garcia, Elizandro Lee Valdez, La Toya Lee Valdez, Lenette Lee Valdez, Justin Lee Valdez, Leandra Valdez, Manuel Marin, Angelica Marin, Victoria Marin, Jennifer (Robert) Gallegos, Sara (Fernando Lozano) " Elizondo", Juan Jaime (Alyssa) Sepulveda, Jena (Jacob) Sanchez, Aissa (Joey) Segovia and Teresa Garza; 31 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Anita Berber, Benjamin Berber and Jose Juan Berber.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, October 23, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Tuesday October 24, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
