Our beloved husband, Father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend left this earthly life surrounded by his loving family to return to his Father in Heaven on Sept. 14, 2018. It must have been a joyous reunion for friends and family as they rejoiced in his return. His family was the joy of his life and he loved nothing more than spending quality time with the complete family unit. Dad loved the outdoors along with fishing and hunting. He spent many hours with his sons up on Michaels Ranch in Croydon UT. Dad was a hard worker; he was employed as a shovel runner at Kennecott Copper for 35 years. He also worked for the Jordan School District for 10 years and 6 years at Albertsons. Dad was loved by all that he came in contact with, spreading wit and humor wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith of 62 years. His children: Kevin (Shauna) Smith, Michael (Diane) Smith, Paulette (Blake) Rasmussen, Gina (Mark) Hansen, and Angie (Casey) Harper. He was also blessed with 26 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Natalie Hansen.
As a family we would like to thank Dr. Ryan and also the service and loving care provided by Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 20 at 11:00 AM at the Bluffdale 5th Ward at 15040 S. Mountainside Dr. in Bluffdale UT. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 19, from 6-8 PM at the church and one hour prior to services. Interment in Buffdale City Cemetery.
