Amalga - Rulon C. Bingham passed away peacefully on May 1, 2014 at his home of natural causes. He was born March 1, 1926, in Amalga, Utah, to LeRoy and Frances Bingham. He married Sara O'dell on Sept. 28, 1998.

He grew up in Amalga and attended school in Cache County. He joined the Navy and served from 1944-46 and was stationed on the battleship New Mexico in the Pacific. During a suicide plane attack, he was wounded. He was awarded two Purple Hearts. He worked hard as a dairy farmer and was 1st runner up to Cache County Young Farmer's of the Year. Hunting and searching out good fishing holes were his passions. He grew beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens. In 2013 he was awarded the Beautification Award.

He was a member of the LDS church serving in various callings.

He is survived by his wife Sara and his children, Carolyn (Paul) Losee, Nancy (Wayne) Christenson, Craig (Geraldine), Kevin, Linda (Jay) Larsen, and Mark (Patty) Bingham; 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; previous spouses Ramona King (the mother of their children) and Evelyn Zabriskie; his sisters, Doris Olson and Lola Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and a grandson.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 7, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Amalga Ward Church with Bishop Grant Koford conducting. Burial will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary.
