Obituary for William Marion Goldsmith from The Emporia Gazette, 6 Feb 1976, p. 2, col 1-2--Goldsmith Services Held--Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the First United Methodist Church for William M. Goldsmith, 920 Walnut St., who died Sunday after suffering a heart attack. The services were conducted by the Rev. Judd Henry Jones. The musicians were Trevor Lewis, soloist, and Mrs. Robert Plummer, organist; the pallbearers were Claude C. Busey, Jr., Allan Jevons, J. E. States, Joseph Lapping, Walter Melton, Frank Davis, Jr., and Thomas E. Tholen, and the ushers were Harry L. Newton and Clair Garrison. Masonic services were conducted in the chapel by Saffordville Lodge 395, A. F. and A. M., with Morris Markley as Master, assisted by Stanley North. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
Those who attended in groups were superintendents and clerks in Santa Fe offices in Newton, Topeka and Emporia, representatives of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, and members of the Emporia Kiwanis Club and the Saffordville Masonic Lodge, Jomarja Chapter 378, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Brandley Circle of the First United Methodist Church Women.
Out-of-town relatives who attended were Mildred L. Caldwell, El Dorado; Mr. and Mrs. Neil Haney, Irene Moore, Betty Miller, and Frank Baxter, Admire; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goldsmith and James Goldsmith, Newton; Mr. and Mrs. James Goldsmith, Valley Center; Messrs. and Mesdames Walter F.
