John was the son of the late Ava and Lillian Mohr. Aug. 28, 1948, he married Joanne L'Heureux in Escanaba, Mich. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1941 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in January of 1949 with a degree in civil engineering.
He worked on several jobs to support his education, including 1 year surveying for the then C&NW Railway Company. After graduation, he was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Green Bay as a civil engineer for 36 years until his retirement in 1986.
John was well known for his hard work and the quality of the many engineering projects he was involved with, including the Tilleman Bridge. He enjoyed his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, playing golf and flying single engine airplanes.
Visitation was held at Blaney Funeral Home, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. A vigil service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation was also held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, De Pere, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Seth Richmond officiating. Burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
