Rob grew up in Belmont and attended Belmont Schools, where he met his wife and many other lifelong friends. He graduated from Boston University in 1963 with a degree in communications, leading to a long and fulfilling career in advertising and public relations.
Rob served as an executive and friend at Cabot Advertising, Doremus and Company, the Harvard Business Review, and Stickney Associates. He retired in 2011 as president of AAI Advertising in Hopkinton, MA. He will be remembered as a wonderful friend to his clients and a generous and beloved colleague.
He loved all the communities where he lived, and loved to serve them. A few of the organizations where he volunteered include the Ad Club of New England, the deCordova Museum, the West Suburban YMCA, the Freedom Trail Foundation, the Massachusetts Mental Health Association and the Mt. Ascutney Property Owner’s Association.
Rob enjoyed traveling, art, gardening, sailing, golf, classic cars, and cheering for the Red Sox and the Patriots. Generous of spirit, with an unforgettable sense of humor, he was truly happiest being with the many new friends that he made and those lifelong friends that he kept close.
Rob is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Anne Connors Allen; two daughters, Amy Allen Abbott of Portland, ME and Lizzie Allen Lewis of Concord, MA; two sons-in-law, Steven W. Abbott of Portland, ME and Benjamin H. Lewis of Concord, MA, and adored grandchildren Hannah, Buck, Ryan, Henry, Phoebe and Annabelle.
