William X. Blashka, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, died early Friday morning, October 24, 2014 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on February 26, 1928 in Manitowoc, son of the late William & Rose (Niespodzainy-Sobiech) Blashka. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from September 1946 until January 1948 during World War II. On August 25, 1951 he married the former Carolina Staudt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Bill was employed as an electrician at Hamilton Industries for 43 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, Hamilton Alumni, Manitowoc Senior Center and the Sea Gull Club. Bill was also a member of AmVets Post #99 and was a past commander of the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659. Bill enjoyed bowling for many years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years: Carolina Blashka; a brother and sister-in-law: Fredrick "Fritz" & Karen Blashka; a sister, Irene Wicihowski, all of Manitowoc; and two sisters-in-law: Marian Staudt, Two Rivers and Elizabeth Menchl, Mishicot. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters-in-law: Theodore & Sylvia Blashka, Edward Blashka, Joseph Blashka, Clarence & Lucille Blashka, Cyril & Bernice Blashka; one sister and four brothers-in-law: Josephine & George Novak, Alex Wicihowski, Peter Staudt, Victor Menchl; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Helen & Peter Staudt.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by the Rev. Gerald Foley. Friends may also call Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the morning prayer service at 10:30 a.m.
