Ezekiel Potts was born 1mo/March 30, 1708 in Bristol Twp, Philadelphia Co, PA. which should not be confused with Bristol Twp, Bucks County. By 1854 Act of Consolidation, several townships in Philadelphia were absorbed as neighborhoods into the City of Philadelphia, among those were Bristol Twp, Byberry Twp, Germantown, Oxford Twp and several others.

In 1728-1730, Ezekiel Potts was a member of the Provincial Assembly; in 1730 he was named Executor of the estate of his father, David Potts, by Will dated 13 Nov 1730. He witnessed the will of his aunt Jane (Potts) Austin on 26 Dec 1733.

He married 1st Magdalen Miller, daughter of George & Sibilla Miller of Germantown contrary to discipline of Friends by license dated 10mo/Dec 31, 1734. He made an acknowledgment to Abington Monthly Meeting of his error on 6mo/Aug 29, 1737 which was accepted.

With Magdalen, he had 7 children: David, William, John, Aquila, George, Joseph & Rebekah.

Magdalen died by 1750 as he married 2nd Barbra (Unknown) Vodges, a widow, about 1751. With Barbra he had 3 more children: Elizabeth, Hannah & Sarah.

On 8 June 1765, Barbra's son Jacob Vodges filed a Petition for Partition of the land of his father Reynier Vodges who died intestate Sep 1750 in Germantown to be divided between Jacob, Catharine, Ann, Sophia, Barbra, and Mary Vodges. Ezekiel and Barbra Potts join in a deed of sale of this land in 1767.

Ezekiel Potts is listed in the Tax records of 1769 in Bristol Twp with 100 acres & dwelling £12; 3 horses £2; 5 cows £1.13.4; 10 sheep S10 = £16, 3, 4. and 1774 in Germantown, no other details provided.

He wrote his Will on 22 Apr 1775 as "of Germantown", however by 1781 he was listed in the Tax records at Tredyffrin, West Chester Co, PA at £2..18..5. His son William resided on a farm in Tredyffrin Twp at that time, a little over a mile from Valley Forge, described as "bounded on the east by land of John Potts" and it is thought that he, as an aged man, left the City when the British Army occupied Philadelphia.

In his Will, he provides for his wife Barbra and the remainder of his estate to be equally divided between his children David, William, Aquila, Joseph, Elizabeth, Hannah and Sarah. He mentions son John as "said son having been many years missing and not known whether living or not". His Will was proved and administration was granted to sons Joseph & William Potts, Executors, on 10 Apr 1781; filed in Chester County Estate Papers, Bk F, pg 401.
