William Henry "Bill" Newman, 73, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born July 11, 1933, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Vernon Newman and Estelle Rogers Price.

He had worked for Piedmont Iron, was a U.S. Army Veteran, and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Bertie Lee Padgett Newman; a daughter, Carol Bullman of Spartanburg; a son, Lee Newman of Spartanburg; two sisters, Betty Carver of Wilmington, NC, and Virginia Blanton of Gaffney; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by a sister, Janie Roberts.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 PM Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Major Fred Carver of the Salvation Army.

The family received friends from 2:00-2:30 PM prior to the service at the graveside.
