Karen Kennedy Williams, age 54, entered into life eternal on Friday, September 21, 2018 at her home in Joanna.
Karen entered the world on the thirteenth of May, 1964 in Clinton, South Carolina to proud parents Berry Belton and Sadie Moon Kennedy.
Karen met her husband, Paul, on a blind date, in which they were set up by mutual friends. Their first date was on October 14, 1989. They married five months later on March 24, 1990.
On February 26, 1993, Karen and Paul welcomed their first, and only child, daughter Katherine Louise. Karen was nervous to become a mother. She lost her own mother to cancer shortly before her third birthday, so she never had a maternal figure to learn from. She needn’t have worried. She was the best mother anyone could ever hope for.
One of Karen and Katherine’s favorite songs was “Wings” by Little Mix because it reiterates the advice that Karen always gave Katherine: “Spread your wings, my little butterfly. Don’t let what they say keep you up at night. They can’t detain you. These wings are made to fly.”
Karen’s favorite singer was Weird Al Yankovic, and she proudly proclaimed herself as “White and Nerdy”. She also enjoyed being a member of “Where’s George?” where she was known as “Moon Pie”.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Berry and Sadie. She was also predeceased in death by her sisters Mary Frances Crawford and Wanda Gail Leroy.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul and her daughter, Katherine. A cat lover her whole life, Karen was also Mom-meow to three fur babies: Licker, Bailey and Pesky.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
