A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Bumgarner Chapel, officiated by Rev. Rick Hodges and Speaker's Jim Ellis and Melody Hardin. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at McDougald Funeral Home.
Born November 20, 1930 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Fodie Strickland Bowen. She was a Customer Service Supervisor with Eaton Corporation for many years. She was a charter member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed reading, cooking and socializing with her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara B. Helms and husband, Roland of Charlotte, and Terry B. Williams and husband, Mitchell of Laurinburg; a sister, Mary Alice Ellis of Laurinburg, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, W. A. “Bill” Byrd, Jr. and her sister, Viola Hardee.
