Mirt (Mose) Mason was born on March 18, 1930 to Mose and Onie Samantha Jay Mason in Braggs, Oklahoma. He was one of seven brothers and sisters, two of which had passed before he was born. He proudly went to work for the Dolese Company in 1955, starting out as a beltman and then to senior crane operator. Mirt eventually was able to operate every piece of machinery that the company needed. After retiring in 1981, he constructed and welded trailers in his spare time and loved hunting with his beagle dogs by his side. Over the years he had great interest in guns and hunting. Mirt was a proud lifetime member of the NRA for over twenty-eight years, making donations to keep the 2nd Amendment alive every chance he could. Earlier in life, he married Dorothy Lynn King. They shared many good years together living in Oklahoma City until she lost her battle with cancer in 1998. From this marriage he became stepfather to two sons, grandfather to three, great grandfather to eight, and great great grandfather to eight. He moved back to Eufaula in 1999 and started attending the First Free Will Baptist Church. Mirt loved his new church family so much that he happily became a member not long after. Mirt got to know Tommie Lea Baker and after spending some together, they were married on January 25, 2000. They shared nineteen years together enjoying their love of all animals but especially the love of horses and dogs.
Survivors include: wife, Tommie Mason, of the home; brother, Alfred Ray Alcorn and wife, Marjorie; sisters: Pearl Sue Morgan and Bobbie Jean Lynn and husband, Sam; three grandchildren: Tony King, Terry King, and Tonya Kyser and husband, John; eight great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Onie Jay Mason; brother, Buster Alcorn; stepsons: Billy Jack King and Darrell Lynn King; granddaughter, Kanda Laneece King.
