Kennard (Ken) Dale Hubbs, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, 79, of Mitchell died September 23, 2018 at Regional West Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Kennard was born October 3, 1938 in Torrington, WY to Dale and Lois (Knapp) Hubbs. During Kennard’s school years they lived on and operated a wheat farm east of Hawk Springs, WY. He met his wife-to-be, Sally (Betty) Blunt, when they were in 7th and 8th grade. They were married in Hawk Springs on July 1, 1956. He enlisted in the army and served from March 1957 to January 1960. After his honorable discharge, he worked miscellaneous jobs until he started his banking career in 1963 in Kimball, NE. In 1968 the family moved to Mitchell, NE where he continued his banking career, ultimately purchasing a majority interest in First National Bank as Executive Vice President. He sold his share of the bank in 1983 and purchased the New Frontiers Real Estate and Insurance Company but decided he would prefer to be a cowboy and began ranching with his brother-in-law, Ron Kaufman, in Wyoming. He and Betty then purchased a ranch south of Mitchell in 1987 and eventually moved to the ranch house in 1996 where he resided the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Mitchell Berean Church, a man of faith, an avid reader, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include daughter Tian Hubbs of Gering, NE, daughters and son-in-laws, Tacy and Daniel Griess of Omaha, NE and Tanya and Rodney Schwaner of Castle Rock, CO, sister Janice Williamson of Yuma, AZ, sister-in-law Janice Hubbs, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Ilene Kaufman, grandchildren Justin Keller, Brandon (Char) and Nathan Griess, Nathan and Kenley Schwaner, niece Laneigh (Mike) Walton, great nephew Corey (Meghan) Miller, and numerous other nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sally (Betty) Hubbs in 2012, and brother Marvin Hubbs.
