Salvatore R. Georato, 80, of Estero, FL passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 28, 2018. Formerly of Methuen, MA, he had been an Estero resident since 2005. He was born October 14, 1937 in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Joseph F. and Margaret (Boragine) Georato. Mr. Georato was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1955-1958, stationed in Jacksonville, FL and Naples, Italy.

Salvatore was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1955.
He was the owner of A&S Machine Shop in Lawrence, MA. After retiring in 1999, Salvatore cruised the world with his beautiful wife, Josephine. His favorite destination was South America where he visited Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Other favorite places were Dubai, Paris, London, Turkey, New Zealand and Australia. Road trips were also a favorite passion. In 2010, Sal and Jo spent 68 days traveling the US visiting friends and National Parks. Sal was a star softball player on his over 50 softball team. In his early 70s he was the fastest baserunner on the team earning the spot of designated runner for the majority of his teammates. Other interests include bocce, pool, tennis, board games, biographies and dancing.

As an avid sport fan, he cheered for his beloved Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed watching his children, and later his 5 grandchildren, participate in sports and other activities.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Josephine N. (Messina) Georato; loving son, Richard and his wife Laurie of Brentwood, NH; son, Robert of Naples, FL and daughter Donna-Marie Lacroix and her husband David of Methuen, MA; brother, Francis and his wife Ellena of Salem, NH; and his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Rachel, Jessica, and Allison.

Services will be held in Estero, FL and Methuen, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 9:00am at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA.
Interment to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.

Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
