"Ness Funeral held Monday. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 a.m., from the Presbyterian church for
the Rev. Andrew O. Ness, 93, who passed away at his home Friday. Rev. David Hancock officiated and was assisted by
the Rev. Arnold Bloom. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery.
Rev. Ness was a retired minister of the Lutheran Free Church. He was born July 11, 1870 in Sogn, Norway, coming
to the United States in 1893 when 23 years of age. He attended Augustana college at Sioux Falls, S.D., and St. Olaf college, Northfield. In 1906 he received his bachelor of divinity degree from Dr. Weidner Seminary in Chicago. Rev. Ness had served parishes of the Lutheran Free Church in Racine, Wis.; Sacred Heart, McGregor and Thor, Minnesota, and Westby,Montana. He retired in 1936 and moved to Cloquet at that time.
He was married to Miss Laura Larsen in 1906, who survives him. He is also survived by five children: a son, Curtis, of Billings, Mont.: four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Alstad, and the Misses Linda, Jane and Esther Ness, all of Cloquet: six grandchildren: a brother, Elling, Nunda,South Dakota, and a sister in Norway.
Funeral rites were under charge of the Barr Brothers Funeral Home."
