Major Becky Anne Sawyer, 45, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 26, 1973 and was a true Leo. Becky was an extraordinary woman who was greatly loved and will always be cherished and honored. First and foremost, she had a brilliant, analytic mind which assisted her in obtaining two Master's Degrees from Penn State University and excelling in her position at Deloitte as an IT Solutions Architect.

She followed in the Military footsteps of her grandfather, Charles Sawyer, who served in the Army during WWII. She quickly rose to the ranks of Sergeant and enrolled in Officer Candidacy School. She again attained honors and eventually rose to the rank of Major. She proudly served her country in many international places including Iraq, Germany and Estonia. She was held in high esteem by her fellow soldiers.

Becky was a true athlete. Throughout her life, she played soccer, softball, basketball, and flag football. Her teammates depended on her to make the big plays and she did not disappoint, even with some theatrics thrown in as well. She loved playing her trombone, Trigger, with the band No Last Call. The members of her band and sports teams were very special to Becky, and she talked of them often.

Since she could never sit still, Becky was a Senior Ski Instructor at Ski Roundtop during the winter months. During January 2017, she taught the Mountain Explorers Children's Ski Camp. She particularly excelled at helping children with disabilities learn to ski. To that end, she volunteered at many Special Olympic events and even plunging into freezing Susquehanna waters with the Krazy Kellys. To anyone that knew Becky, it is no surprise that she loved animals, some even more than most people. She adored her cats, fish, and outdoor sanctuary for birds. She named wild animals so the hunters in her family would not kill them. She was unique. If you were her friend, you did not have a more loyal and caring supporter.

Loved ones that met Becky on her path to eternal life were her grandparents: Charles and Mary Sawyer (Pap & Grammy) and Jeannette Pease (Nana). Loved ones that will miss Becky until they meet again are her parents Charley W. and Sheila Sawyer; sister and brother-in-law Holly Sawyer and John Merenich; brother Charley M. Sawyer; her longtime boyfriend and partner in all things sports, Royden Genegabus; her baseball protege Kai Genegabus; and many adored aunts, uncles and cousins. And so the story goes on until we see our Bx again. We love you and miss you Becky.

Services will be Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Rd, Enola, PA. There will be a public visitation from 10-11:00am. Burial will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
