Lewis Puryear, age 91 was born August 19th, 1927 and passed away October 3rd, 2018.
He was a faithful member of the Tiftonia Church of Christ and deeply loved his Spiritual Brothers and Sisters there. It always lifted his heart with great joy when he was able to be there in his later years.
Lewis never met a stranger and when he did he always offered a smile and left them uplifted. He was an avid baseball fan and absolutely loved the New York Yankees his entire life. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was the son of the late David F. Puryear and Ivy Rowley Puryear. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Frank Puryear and Dorothy McCollum.
Lewis is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 68 years, Corena Morrell Puryear; son, Michael (Jan Binkley) Puryear; daughter, Jan McBryar and son Marty Puryear; six grandsons, two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren (Henry Lewis on the way) and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Eston Smith, Don Puryear, Thon Puryear, Doyle Puryear, Eloise Stevens, Tommy Puryear and Billy Puryear.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens West.
His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the funeral home.
