Bernadette C. “Bernie” (Savage) Sturm, 74, entered into eternal life with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Bernie was surrounded by her loving family and favorite Irish tunes at CHI Health Lakeside Hospital, Omaha, NE.
She was born on May 6, 1944, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Stephen and Marie (Stadler) Savage. Bernie attended school at St. Luke’s in Two Rivers and was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1962. On December 28, 1963 she married Henry Sturm at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Bernie worked at Stangel’s Super Valu/Super 3, ABC Supermarket and Bank First National for many years. She volunteered and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary 1248, and a life member and treasurer of Friends of St. Patrick’s. She loved supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Bernie always looked forward to monthly socials with her former coworkers.
She is survived by her husband: Henry Sturm, Manitowoc; her children: Kevin Sturm, Manitowoc, and his children: Hannah Rose and Aaron; Barb (Ray) Doble, Gretna, NE, and their children: Ryan, Ely, Chase, Sarah, Tim (Sonja) Andrews and their children: Oliver and Norah; Paul (Jennifer) Sturm, Omaha, NE, and their son: Dylan; Katie (Jamie) Dickrell, Manitowoc, and their two sons: Benson and Braden; one sister-in-law: Diane (Ron) Wisnicky, Kewaunee, and one brother-in-law: John Ruminski, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Bernie was preceded in death by two sisters: Rita Ruminski and Mary (John) Daley; one sister-in-law: Joan (Roland) Drumm; two brothers-in-law: Karl (Deanna) Sturm and Robert Sturm; two nieces: Laura Daley and Mary Drumm; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Bertha and Henry Sturm Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue). Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand from 8:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bernie’s name to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Roncalli High School, or Friends of St. Patrick’s.
