Hubert A. Scott, 95, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, Oct 3, 2018. He was welcomed into Heaven by his Lord and Savior and joined the love of his life, Reba. Their love story is now complete.

Mr. Scott was predeceased by his wife, Reba Toney Scott, his parents, Van Cleveland Scott and Edna Smith Scott and his brother, Paul Scott.

He is survived by son, John Eary of Ringgold, Ga; his daughter, Charlotte Scott Gregory and husband, Walter of Roanoke. Three granddaughters, Susan McClure (Craig) of Chattanooga. Julianne Gregory of Fairfax and Sarah Gregory of Roanoke; three great grandchildren, Tory, Jake and Abby McClure; three sisters, Nora Saul of Boones Mill, Evelyn Smith of Richmond and Rachel Hall and husband, Lawrence of Vinton; many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Garden City Baptist Church, where he served, faithfully, for many years.

Mr. Scott was born in Ferrum, VA on Aug. 8, 1923, graduated from William Byrd, then enlisted in the US Army. He completed Communication and Gunner training at the US Cavalry School in Ft. Riley, KS. He was deployed to Europe for active duty in WWII. He fought on Omaha Beach on D-Day and also at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the US Army Medal for Sharpshooter Carbine Marksmanship, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, American Theater Service Ribbon, Eastern European Service Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon.

After the war, he was employed as a draftsman at US Steel then later at GE.

He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his God and lived his life quietly and faithfully. He adored his wife and family with all his being. His family was his world.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. at Oakeys's South Chapel. Funeral service, with Military Honors will be held at Oakeys's South Chapel at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 with Rev. Jay Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
