Vernon is destined to occupy one of the places of honor if war is declared. Already a company has been organized. O. T. Weaver has been chosen to lead the company as its Captain; Frank Kizzier was chosen drum major and will furnish the music to which the boys will do the tango; Doc Worth was elected chief surgeon and will look after the aches and pains to which they may be subjected; Asa Miller was chosen duty sergeant; and Pap Weaver chief ordinance; Mack Musselman and Harry Altig were chosen junior and senior corporal in the order named. The balance of the company has not been mustered as yet, but no trouble is anticipated in filling the ranks. The good citizens of Vernon have assured the company of their moral support and will start them on their way to the front by giving them a banquet on the date of their departure.
