Mary Tate passed away Tuesday, September 21, 1993 at the Roland-Schwichtenberg Adult Health Care Home at Kasota, MN. Services were held Friday, September 24, 1993 at 11 a.m. at English Lutheran Church, Walnut Grove, with Pastor Brian Fragodt officiating. The casket bearers were John Doubler, Dean Rys, Dennis Veroeven, Steve Ourada, Dick Rys, and David Arnt. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mary Tate, age 86, one of nine children born to John R. and Martha Mjolsness Anderson, was born December 28, 1906 at Perley, MN. [Lee Township, Norman County, MN.]
Mary received her formal education at Perley and moved to Walnut Grove, MN, in 1933. She and John Tate were married June 4, 1935 at Perley and they made their home in Walnut Grove. John passed away in 1976.
Mary worked as a secretary for Tate Trucking Company until her retirement in 1976.
She was a member of English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove and had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Allan and Helen Tate of Walnut Grove, Lyle Tate of Walnut Grove, Ken Tate of Judson, MN, and Ken's fiance, Audrey Schwichtenberg; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Emma Good of Fergus Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, Mark Tate, and one daughter-in-law, Lorraine and seven brothers and sisters.
