Dorothy Vande Berg, 89, of Orange City, Iowa passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City, Iowa.

Dorothy Ann was born on February 10, 1920, at Sioux Center, the daughter of Jacob and Gertrude (De Zeeuw) Mol. She was raised at Sioux Center and attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City for one year. She then was a school teacher.

On May 24, 1943, she married Wilbert Leonard Vande Berg in Sioux Center, Iowa. Dorothy Ann and Wilber farmed at Newkirk, where she was a homemaker. Dorothy Ann also worked in the Newkirk Store, was a saleswoman for the Des Moines Register and the World Book Encyclopedia, and was an aide at the Heritage House.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Plunkett of The Colony, Texas, Gloria and her husband, Byron Nelson of Irving, Texas, and Debra and her husband, Tim Poppen of Sioux City; a son-in-law, Herman Kluis of Orange City; four grandchildren, Adam Nelson and his wife, Kristen, Brooke Nelson and her fiance', Michael Bailey, Zachary Poppen and his wife, Larissa, and Daniel Poppen; a great-granddaughter, Hallie Nelson; a sister, Joanne Johnson of Des Moines; a brother, John Mol of Jenks, Oklahoma; and several nephews and nieces.

Dorothy Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert; daughter, Merrie Lynn Kluis; sister, Ethel Wiersma; and brother, Neal Mol.
