Irene Irene Hallowes (nee) denBoer, beloved wife of the late Arthur Hallowes passed away September 17 in Nanton, Alberta at the age of 95.

Irene is survived by her son Gary (Shirley) Hallowes , Peavine, daughters Linda (Harry) Lively, Nanton , Hazel (Terry) Kercher, Taber, Donna (Duncan) Pegg, Nanton, ten grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; two brothers Hank and Bill denBoer and sister Edith Kathol.

She was predeceased by her husband Art, granddaughter Dawn Zarowny, brother Peter Den Boer, sisters Mary Manning, Mertina Evans and Nellie Voutier.

Irene was born in Baintree, Alberta June 26, 1923. She had her early schooling in Baintree , high school in Strathmore, and then graduated from Garnett Business College in Calgary.

In 1941, Irene met Art in Calgary where he was in training for the R.C.A.F. They were married in August 1942.

Art and Irene lived in Belleville, Ontario where Art was stationed. In 1946 they moved to the Peavine community where they farmed for 50 +years and raised their family. During this time Irene was very active in the Peavine community and the Sangudo Royal Purple In 1983, Art and Irene purchased a house in Arizona and spent many happy years traveling south in the winter.

In 1997 Art and Irene retired to Brookside Village in Barrhead. After Arts' passing Irene moved to Hillcrest lodge Barrhead, then to Madison Manor in Nanton. Irene was always busy especially knitting, sewing and crocheting.

Because they stayed in Arizona for Christmas, they celebrated Christmas at Thanksgiving with the family. Every year she had a quilt or afghan for every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - right up to and including last year at the age of 94.. She made many happy memories for everyone, and will always be remembered for her positive attitude and caring nature.
