Penelope Ann Nixon Snellings, or Penny to those that knew her, died peacefully on October 8th, 2018 in her home in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on August 25th, 1939. She is now in heaven with our Lord and Savior, as well as her parents, Lloyd Nixon & Floy McKinney, brothers Stephen and Gary Nixon, and her beloved husband Rick Snellings. Her heart broke when Rick died, and now it is healed. She loved so many, but her children, David Snellings, Sherry Dixon and Todd Snellings, as well as her grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Ashley Rodgers, and Chandler Dixon will miss her loving presence the most. Penny was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews, a wonderful great grandmother to Grady, Wyatt and Penelope (Poppy), and showed her family what it meant to care for others. She had different jobs, but her volunteer work was what gave her the most joy. Her best friends, some already gone and some still here on earth, were loved like dear sisters. A special thanks to Jackie Wood, Vicky Puckett and sister-in-law Nancy Snellings.

The family would also like to thank Cathy Hays and the caregivers who provided loving care for Penny the last several years.

Her ability to love unconditionally and bind others together was her greatest talent. She will be missed dearly, but in heaven, we will see her and Rick again.

Her life will be celebrated on October 17, 2018 at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home North at 9:00 am, with graveside services to follow at the cemetery in Anadarko.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association-Oklahoma City Office at 6601 N Broadway Extension, Suite 120, Oklahoma City, OK 73116 or donations may be made online at www.alz.org/oklahoma.
