Agnes Elfretta Carlisle, widow of John Carlisle, died at 3 a. m. today at her home at the corner of Pike and Haft streets, after an illness of about five years. She had been bedfast for over six months. Mrs. Carlisle was aged 73 years, having been born at Hickory August 21, 1851, being a daughter of John and Nancy Simpson of Hickory. Some years after her marriage to Mr. Carlisle, the couple came to Houston, where the family has resided for 27 years. The deceased was a member of the Houston M. E. church and was most highly respected.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle, and are as follows: John A., Los Angeles, Cal ; Charles, of Canonsburg; Anna, wife of James McConnell, Houston; David and Isaac, Washington, R. D. 1; Harry, of Charlotte, Mich.; William, of Houston; Bert, Clara and Elva, at home. One brother, William O. Simpson, resides at Hickory. Seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.
