FUNERAL RITES OBSERVED FOR LEE HOKE - January 27, 1939
Funeral services for Jess Lee Hoke Jr. who died from pneumonia Friday, January 6, in the St. Vincent hospital, were held Monday afternoon, January 9, in the Presbyterian church at Belfry. The Latter Day Saints were in charge of the services. J.H. tibbets and Mr. Elmer Eyers of Lovell, Wyoming, and Thomas Irvine of Bearcreek officiated. The Latter Day Saint Choir sang several selections. Mrs. Orville Brower and Mrs. M.R. Smith sang a duet. The sons of the American Legion were in charge of the services at the cemetery. Eight of his classmates sang "Repose", Bill Lose played a muffled drum. "Taps" were played by Edwin Brown who was bugler, Kenneth Thomas, Chaplain read, "Prayer of Farewell". Pallbearers were Jimmy and Elmer Webb, Bud Lose, Warren Gruel, Billy Brown, and Dayle Smith. Survivors besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hoke of Belfry, are five sisters Thelma, Dora, Lillie, Charlotte, and Pearl, and one brother, Bud. Interment was in the Belfry Cemetery. Lee was born at Washoe, March 16, 1925. At the age of six he entered school in Washoe. In February, 1934, he moved to Belfry with his family. He was in the eighth grade.
