Obituary - Death Takes L. A. Bowen, Last Rites Will Be Held Here Saturday
Lewis Andrew Bowen, 77, well known resident of Livingston and Park county, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Park hospital after a short illness. A heart ailment was given as the cause of death.
The body is at the Franzer mortuary, from where last rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
Bowen was born Oct. 22, 1877 in Macomb, Ill., where he spent his early life and received his education. He married Cora Maud Culp April 15, 1900, at Macomb.
The family came to Montana from Illinois in 1916, settling in the Hysham community. Bowen later ranched in the Red Lodge and Columbus areas before moving to Park county in 1926. He was engaged in ranching operations in the Shields valley near Clyde Park until coming to Livingston 10 years ago.
In recent years Bowen has worked for the Northern Pacific railway and the Livingston Milling company.
Survivors include his widow, six daughters, Mrs. Lydia Murie, Mrs. Zelma Riley, and Mrs. Essie Martin of Livingston, Mrs. Allen Yates of Billings, Mrs. Nancy Bentley of Kalispell, and Mrs. Loma Bradford of Bremerton, Wash.; three sons, Lucius and William Bowen of Livingston and Francis Bowen of Whitehall. 2 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
