Katheryne (Kitty) Allison Pryor passed away peacefully on her 99th birthday, October 12, 2018. She was born October 12, 1919 in Suwannee County, and was a graduate of Suwannee High School and the 1943 class of Florida State College for Women, now know as FSU. She taught high school for 32 years, was a Future Homemakers of America sponsor and served as district advisor for FHA. Following her retirement from teaching she served as the Community Food and Nutrition Program Director for Suwannee River Economic Council, supervising the 8 county community canning plant. At the age of 80 she taught herself how to use a computer and wrote and published a cookbook and also published a book of the Allison family genealogy. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 86 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Lee Pryor, and son: John L Allison, Sr. She is survived by her grandsons: John L (Buddy) Allison (Shelly) of Woodbridge, VA; Joel VanLeuven of Utah; Kris VanLeuven, Utah; granddaughter: Lynn Gibbs (Bobby), O’Brien, FL; great-grandchildren: John L (Johnny) Allison III, Bellevue NE; Ashley Kourey (Sean), Aurora, CO; Travis Cason (Jennifer), Lake City, FL and four great great grandchildren: Trevin Cason, James Kourey, Maren Katheryne Kourey, and Lawren Cason; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Daniels Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Mrs. Pryor’s life will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 5203 CR 795, Live Oak, FL Saturday, October 20 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery fund, which was a project near and dear to her heart.
